My Top 10 Concerts of all TIme

As promised, here is the list!! Some of the dates are estimated

1) Pink Floyd, The Division Bell Tour, Oakland Coliseum:
yes, I know, but I'm only 33 and I never had a chance to see them before this album because I was a toddler. However, I was FRONT ROW CENTER!! I could feel the heat of thy pyrotechnics from the exploding pigs!! It was seriously mind blowing.

2) Sleater-Kinney- The Farewell shows at the Crystal, August 2006
Such bittersweet shows!! The best playlists, my favorite band, but, sadly, the end. I have seen S/K many times, with awesome opening bands at venues I like much better, but this show had such an energy!

3) U2 - Achtung Baby tour, Oakland Coliseum
Man, I used to worship U2. This show was particularly great cause I was with my best friend Jason Brunswick, The opening bands were The Sugarcubes and Public Enemy, we were up close and every song was my favorite song.

4) Neko Case- Fox Confessor Tour, August 2006 Crystal Ballroom.
Have I mentioned how much I LOATHE the Crystal Ballroom? If you want to drink you are cordoned over to the side, if you dont you are in the middle of 13 year olds. However, the stars aligned for this lovely Neko show. Every song ruled, if I could have designed a playlist this would have been it, I was right up front by the steel guitar player, and was with my friends Caryn and Jane.

5) Grateful Dead- sometime in the early 90's, Shoreline Ampitheatre
I don't remember much about this particular dead show (ha ha), and I have been to many, but what stands out about this one is that I went with all my close girl friends- Becky and Rachel and a few others, and there was this whole beautiful sister vibe that permeated the mood. Plus I got a really cute t-shirt with winnie the pooh charachters and the lyrics to "the golden road"

6) Belly/ Catherine Wheel - The Edge (maybe it was the Vortex then) in Palo Alto.
A little known waif named Jewel (gag) opened up fpr the opening act, but I LOVE Belly, and Catherine Wheel was pretty rad, too. Plus they sang "Judy Staring at the Sun" together, which is one of my all time favorite songs. I could have lived my whole life happily never seeing Jewel, though

7) The Indigo Girls, The Greek Theater, 1993?
My absolute favorite venue, in lovely Berkley, Ca. Another front row center show at the height of my Indigo Girl love. 10,000 topless lesbians singing "Gallileo", I mean, come on, right?

8) The GO-GO's, Bikini Kill- The Warfield, San Fransisco, 1993?
The Go-Go's reunion, with lots of 80's dancing. I love Belinda Carslile!! Who wouldn't love this show?

9) Tori Amos- Under The Pink Tour, 1994?
I chose this Tori concert cause I was front row center (I used to work for ticketmaster, ok?) This was the show where I got Tori a bouquet of Sunflowers and wrot her a note along the embarassing lines of " While you are in San Jose, if you want to hang out my phone number is.... I think we have a lot in common etc...) Barf. She also covered "Landslide"

10) Peter Murphy/ Concrete Blonde/Black Crowes- 3 way tie
Cheating!!I know. But these shows were all great. It was the last time Concrete Blonde was going to tour together (well, so they said) and Johnette was fierce. Peter Murphy was great just for the people watching, and The Crowes, well, they were so much fun. There was a big crow in a top hat dancing around. Actually, there were alot of people dancing around.

Everclear

I hate Everclear. All of their songs sound the same. Jeff loves Everclear and likes to listen to their Cd's really loud on road trips. We take a lot of road trips. Do you see my conundrum?

Rilo Kiley- Under the Blacklight

Another disappointment!! And the funny thing is, every review I have read of this album gave it 4 stars and called it "cocaine- disco". Wtf? Anyway, I will always love the lead singer Jenny Lewis, she has an awesome voice, writes great lyrics, is super cute, and played Shelly Long's daughter in "Troop Beverly Hills". I liked the last album better, "It's a Hit" and "Portions for Foxes" are 2 of my favorite songs now and forever. And Jenny is the new Indie pop queen it girl

The New Pornographers- Challengers

I was so looking forward to listening to this album!! It features the glorious Neko Case, whom I would listen to reading the phone book. Yet something was missing. The last 2 Cd's I have from this band, "Electric Version" and "Twin Cinema", are joyous, danceble and fun. There are soaring vocals and Neko solos. This album is certainy good, and it will enjoy a healthy rotation in my player, and it will probably grow on me the more I listen to it, but it will eventually just show up now and then on my ipod shuffle.
